BURN PERMITS
Burn permits are free and are required year round inside Cowan city limits. To obtain a burn permit, call Cowan City Hall during regular business hours (931) 967-7318. Evenings and weekends, call FC Dispatch (931) 967-2331. For burn permits outside of Cowan city limits (required October 15th-May 15th), please call Division of Forestry (931) 598-5535. What not to burn in Tennessee: Tires and other rubber products Vinyl siding and vinyl shingles Plastics and other synthetic materials Paper products, cardboard and newspaper Asphalt shingles, and other asphalt roofing materials and demolition debris Asbestos-containing materials Paints, household and agricultural chemicals Aerosol cans and food cans Building material and construction debris Buildings and mobile homes Coated wire Household trash Most vegetation not grown on site For information about what items may not be burned, please visit burnsafetn.org. |
