The Cowan Fire Department will install smoke detectors in a residence, free of charge.  If you are interested in this program, please stop by Cowan City Hall to fill out a request.
REFLECTIVE ADDRESS MARKERS
These markers make it easier for emergency vehicles and delivery trucks to find your location.  Markers are $15 and once purchased, the fire department will install them.  Markers may be purchased at Cowan City Hall or mail order form and payment to:

BURN PERMITS
Burn permits are free and are required year round inside Cowan city limits.  To obtain a burn permit, call Cowan City Hall during regular business hours (931) 967-7318.  Evenings and weekends, call FC Dispatch (931) 967-2331.  For burn permits outside of Cowan city limits (required October 15th-May 15th), please call Division of Forestry (931) 598-5535.

Vinyl siding and vinyl shingles
Plastics and other synthetic materials
Paper products, cardboard and newspaper
Asphalt shingles, and other asphalt roofing materials and demolition debris
Asbestos-containing materials
Paints, household and agricultural chemicals
Aerosol cans and food cans
Building material and construction debris
Buildings and mobile homes
Coated wire
Household trash
